On 1 October 2004, Employment Tribunals introduced, in partnership with the judiciary and Acas, new procedures to implement the requirements of the Employment Act 2002. The Employment Tribunals website was revamped and relaunched to take account of the new rules.
The Annual Report of the Employment Tribunal Service for the year to March 2005 shows that some 86,000 cases were accepted for hearings, some of which were for multiple complaints. Employment Tribunals have powers to determine nearly 70 different types of complaint. In 2004/05 the most common types of complaint were:

Of the cases accepted, 37% of cases were settled through Acas, 30% were withdrawn, 18% were successful at tribunal, 8% were unsuccessful at tribunal and 7% were 'disposed of otherwise'.
